Transgender is a term used for anyone whose gender expression differs from the gender expressions typical for people who were labeled like them at birth. Though, transgender is quite difficult to define, but it has to do with how a person sees themselves and how they want the world to see them.
Fortunately, we are turning into a society where people recognize different genders and live together in harmony. However we are not there yet, we are on our way to becoming one. The first step that we need to take towards becoming a society that welcomes people of all genders is understanding them.
Jaime Wilson from Florida, born as a female shares his amazing transformation from being a woman to man, it was really a remarkable one since he has to endure a lot of things, from reassignment surgery, testosterone treatment to thorough workouts.
Jamie is a musician/songwriter who keeps on documenting his transition on social media and became an inspiration for others especially from LGBT community. He has gained lot of supporters and his fans are not only from LGBT community but he has earned support and respect from many people as well.
However, He revealed that since he began his journey from becoming a man he has lost contact with his family and many friends.
Nevertheless, it was not easy but he thinks it was worth, it he has no regrets about his new life since hopes to encourage others and show people that being yourself is worth it
He captioned:
“DON’T JUDGE A BOOK BY ITS COVER. I am posting this picture to show that not everyone has to show that not everyone has to show “signs” to be transgender. You don’t have to pass a test to prove you’re trans...and you sure as hell don’t need ANYONES approval but your own. This life is about finding yourself and becoming YOU. No one’s journey is the same...so stop comparing yourself to others. When I came out people refused to believe I was a man because of how “Feminine” I presented for 18 years. So why am I posting this comparison? Because I want people to see it doesn’t matter what some LOOKS like...if someone has the guts to tell you “I’m transgender” “I’m gay””I’m bisexual” anything like that PLEASE BELIEVE them and be there for them because stereotypes need to be broken”
“YOUR WORDS DO NOT DEFINE ME...I DEFINE ME...don’t let anyone tell you who you are. At the end of the day your body is no one else’s home but your own. Your taste in music, your sexuality, how you dress, the way you wear your hair...PLEASE don’t ever be ashamed of those things and better yet NEVER feel the need to change to make others around you happy. Remember, the way people treat you is a reflection of themselves. No matter what horrible things people say to you or about you, those words do NOT define who you are. Keep doing you...cause you’re pretty damn awesome!”
