Being a model can be fun, fabulous and relatively “easy” to get money. However, it is also a stressful job and not just as easy as getting your picture taken.
Russian model Vlada Dzyuba, 14, fell unconscious after working 13-hour straight during a live fashion show, unfortunately she never regained consciousness, and died two days later.
The teenage model was working in China for a three-month contract as a model. She apparently called her mother and told her about her condition, saying that she was too exhausted after a draining 13-hour Asian fashion show in Shanghai.
Her mother, Oksana stated on the Russian TV channel NTV
“She called me, ‘Mom, I’m so tired, I want to sleep so badly.’ It must have been the beginning of the illness, and then her temperature climbed, she had a fever. I could not sleep, and I called her constantly, begging her to go to the hospital. “
The cause of Dzyuba’s death is allegedly due to complications of acute cerebral meningitis which was later linked to being overworked.
Sadly, the teen was reportedly in a “slave labor” without insurance and had been too “scared” to seek hospital treatment.
According to a survey which carried out in 2010 by the Chinese Medical Doctor Association and the Chinese Hospital Association, more than 60 percent of white-collar workers in big cities are at risk of contracting illness resulting from overwork.
