Man's Entire Body Is Filled With Tapeworms After Eating Contaminated Raw Fish

An unnamed Chinese man had gone to see a doctor due to itchy skin and stomachache. As he was treated at the Guangzhou No.8 People’s Hospital in Guangdong Province in China, the doctor then scanned his whole body and it was  revealed that he had been infected with tapeworm that could almost killed him

It is believed that the man’s excessive love for sashimi must be the reason why he had been infested with tapeworms.As the research has shown that eating uncooked fish or meat can lead to a variety of parasitic infection.

Dr Yin of Guangzhou No.8 People’s Hospital,told mags.com that consuming raw food contaminated with tapeworms eggs could actually lead to cysticercosis, it is when the adult worms penetrate a person’s blood stream, and this type of infection is also life-threatening once it reaches the brain.

It is also reported that cases have increased in poorer areas due to improved sanitation and in more developed countries because of its rising popularity of sushi.

The doctors stated in the journal Canadian Family Physician, Nancy Craig the study author wrote:

“The widespread popularity of Japanese sushi and sashimi (slices of raw fish) is a contributor.”

“But other popular dishes might also be implicated, such as raw salted or marinated fillets - which originate from Baltic and Scandinavian countries - carpaccio - very thin slices of raw fish common in Italy, raw salmon and ceviche - lightly marinated fish.”
